We provide knowledge about children’s art with the purpose of strengthen the learning process through excitement and enthusiasm. The tour is relevant for the curriculum in the art discipline, nature, social studies, and geography and can be customised to serveral of the competence goals within the promise of knowlegde. The tour is also relevant for the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

A tour of The International Museum of Children’s Art opens up for talks and reflection. We will start by thinking about the name for the museum and think out loud in regards to the words like art, museum, and quality. Our guide brings you around the museum and gives you a great look into the collection of the museum, and the tour guide and pupils look at the pictures together. Then we analyse, and try to think about the mening behind an artwork. What do we see in this picture? In which technical and art technical way have they tried to express their message – what could they have tried to tell us? There will also be a tour into “the room of magic”, the doll room where the museum’s international doll collection is shown.

Are you working on a special project or theme, will be try to fit that into the tour if you want.

Our tours will be adjusted to fit it age. With school visits we have three separate parts: 1st to 4th grade, 5th to 7th grade and 8th to 10th grade.

Recommended tours for age groups primary school

  • Duration: 90 minutes (visit time).
  • Content: Visit the exhibitions. Focus on cultural diversity and
    artistic impressions in two and three dimensional form
  • Preparation (optional): Create a portrait.
  • Tasks on the museum (optional): Study the portrait collection in the fireplace living room. Do portraits have to resemble?
  • After the visit (optional): Reflect on the technics used in portrait art.
  • Duration: 90 minutes (visit time).
  • Content: Visit the exhibitions. Focus on three dimensional works
    and how your own knowlegde and skills are important
    assumptions to create the wanted expression in its own work.
  • Preparation (optional): Make a sculpture/figure made by trash/garbage, for instance steel wire, corks,
    or soda cans.
  • Tasks on the museum (optional): Study and reflect
  • After the visit (optional): We encourage you to create an artwork, image, sculpture,
    or other.
  • Duration: 90 minutes (visit time).
  • Content: Visit the exhibitions. Focus to talk about
    different artists expressions from different cultures. We look at both
    two dimensional and three dimensional artwork.
  • Preparations (optional): Find our how different artists have shown
    the human body throughout history, for instance Michelangelo,
    Vigeland, Botero.
  • Tasks on the museum (optional): Choose a sculpture and reflect on the propositions,
    material, colours, etc.
  • After the visit (optional): We encourage you to create an artwork, image, sculpture,
    or other.
