In November 1990 the museum’s founders Rafael and Alla Goldin visited the “Usko-Ayar Amazonian School of Painting and Nature” in Pucallpa, Peru. They brought with them watercolors, paper and crayons, and encouraged the students to create a series of images focusing on the threat of the forest and their own traditions.
