From November: Life in Ukraine seen with children’s eyes

It is said that images say more than a thousand words and that pictures and drawings can convey meaning and awaken feelings in a completely different way than the written or spoken word. From November, the International Museum of Children’s Art presents an excerpt of pictures, styles and drawings about how Ukrainian children have experienced the events that have characterized the society they live in recent years.

 

What is their understanding of all the strong impressions they have to deal with, through media, family, friends and own experiences? – And how do they imagine the future?

 

To answer these questions, Maidan Norway (2014) took the initiative for a  contest for Ukrainian children and young people, in collaboration with a department at the Polytechnic University of Lviv. Nearly 2,000 children submitted their texts, poems and drawings (a total of over 6000 contributions).
