Climate and environment seen through children and young eyes.

The Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg (16) inspires children and young people around the world with school strikes and climate actions, and has stated that the children’s future is mostly in the hands of adults, and that it seems they do not take it very seriously since nothing but talk seems to be happening..

For us humans, it is society that determines what life is like. Children and young people are our most vulnerable group, they are observant and conscious about the things they see in our environment. They believe in what they see and are hopeful through their own imagination. 

Today’s environment and intensive climate change also have a strong impact on children and young people, and the message of this exhibition is to remind everyone that no one is never too small to make a difference! 

Through art as a tool, the International Museum of Children’s Art wishes to ask various climate questions and initiate for dialogue about children’s future, their active participation in society, their rights and their important voices. The exhibition consists of over 75 works including paintings that highlight various metaphors and life for better or worse. Children and young people imagine and visualize man-made challenges and solutions such as cleaning up the world’s garbage, alternative life on other planets, ecological chaoses, colourful time perspectives and more. All of the works are from the museum’s permanent collection and date back to the 1990s until now.
