Indonesian Angklung-concert & workshop | Sun 21.08.16 (free entrance 12.30-13.30)

Angklung is a traditional musical instrument from Indonesia consisting of two to four bamboo tubes suspended in a bamboo frame. The tubes are carefully whittled and cut by a master craftsperson to produce certain notes when the bamboo frame is shaken or tapped. Each angklung produces a single note or chord, so several players must collaborate in order to play melodies.

This sunday you can see a concert and join in on our workshop with Keluarga Paduan Angklung ITB – an organisation engaged in preserving and promoting the angklung as a cultural heritage through innovative and creative means. The event is a collaboration with the Indonesian Embassy in Oslo.
