CONCERT SERIES WITH YOUNG TALENTS

Sunday April 24th 2016 – at 14.00 –

The International Museum of Children’s Art provides an arena for children and youth to develop and present their talents in the arts. The concert series with young students of classical music is part of the museum’s commitment to encourage young talents.

The #06 concert in this series is performed by students (11-19 years old) at The Ivan Galamian International Academy in Málaga, Spain.

About The Ivan Galamian International Academy:
The academy was born from an alliance between violinist Jesús Reina and The Interactive Music Museum i Málaga with the intention of promoting musical and instrumental knowledge among violinists, violists and cellists. The principal objective of the academy is to maintain and develop the instrumental technique of the pedagogue Ivan Galamian. The academy offers musical development for students between 8 and 22 years old. The program includes music theory and harmony lessons, as well as travels and residencies at other music schools.

About the professors:
Anna Magrethe Nilsen is born in Norway and started playing the violin when she was 4 years old. Her first main violin teacher was Isaac Schuldman. She obtained a Master of Music at The Manhattan School of Music and has appeared as a soloist with several orchestras – Bergen Philharmonic, Trondheim Symphony, St Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra, The Norwegian Opera Orchestra to mention a few. Nilsen has won several awards and is an active concert violinist. Currently Nilsen is a professor at The Ivan Galamian International Academy.

Jesús Reina is a violinist from Spain. He started his musical journey with his grandfather playing verdiales – also known as fandangos of Málaga. He obtained his Master in Music at The Manhattan School of Music in New York. He has won several awards, one of them being the Medal of Honor of Málaga for “most outstanding violinist”, awarded to him by Her Majesty Queen Sofía of Spain. Reina is an active concert violinist known for his charisma and musical temperament. He has been a soloist with the Malaga Philharmonic, Barcelona Symphoni and The National Arts Centre Orchestra among others. Jesús Reina is professor-director at The Ivan Galamian International Academy.
